Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
